المبني الغاض في باطن الارض

UCSB PhD Student Mohamed Faroug Ali has been excavating under the modern village, the site of the ancient town. He has traced a strange underground structure, following a trench cut in the alluvium approximately two meters deep, lined with mud brick walls and with a mud plaster floor. This was no simple storeroom, but a massive construction running east-west for around 100 meters. This year with the assistance of Musaab Awad Allah (Shendi Antiquities Office and University of Shendi), Mohamed found a corner, where the trench and walls make a right angle turn to the south. Large deposits of ceramics suggest a date running from the mid to late 18^th Dynasty, with a final use or re-use perhaps around the time of the Amarna Period (c. 1450-1300 BC). Was this mysterious subterranean structure connected with some kind of large enclosure? If so, what was it?

يعمل د. محمد فاروق علي في التنقيب عن موقع آثار المدينة القديمة تحت قرية تمبس الحالية. عثر من خلال حفرياتة علي مبني غريب في باطن الارض عبارة عن خندق حفر في التربة الرسوبية بعمق حوالي 2 متر و مرصوف بجدارين من الطوب اللبن علي جانبية مع ملاط من الطين. المبني ليس غرفة و إنما جزء من مبني ضخم ممتد حوالي 100متر من الشرق الي الغرب. في هذا الموسم تمكن محمد فاروق بمساعدة مصعب عوض الله (مكتب اثار شندي- جامعة شندي) من العثور علي ناصية يلتف فيها الخندق و الجدران جنوباً. الكمية الكبيرة من طبقة الفخار التي عثر عليها تشير الي الفترة ما بين منتصف و نهاية الأسرة الثامنة عشر، أما آخر استخدامات او إعادة استخدامة مرة أخري ربما يعود لفترة تل العمارنة (1450-1300 ق.م). هل كان لهذا المبني الغامض علاقة بسور ضخم؟. ولو كان كذلك فما نوعه؟
